Radford University, a dynamic and growing comprehensive public university, located on the historic New River in the City of Radford in Southwest Virginia seeks a highly accomplished professional for the position of Director/Dean of Admissions.

Established in 1910, Radford University offers a wide range of academic, cultural, public service and research programs. Under the dynamic leadership of President Penelope Kyle, Radford has embarked on an ambitious ten-year Strategic Plan, 7/17, and is poised for significant and meaningful change. RU was one of only 77 colleges and universities in the nation to be recognized as "Up and Coming" on the basis of "promising and innovative change" by the 2010 U.S. News and World Report annual rankings.

With approximately 9,000 students including over 1,000 graduate students, Radford University distinguishes itself through its commitment to the learning experience. It offers 106 programs through its six undergraduate colleges. Also, there are more than 30 programs of study at the post-baccalaureate level with plans to offer additional doctoral programs in a number of disciplines. Long recognized for its beautiful historic campus, Radford recently embarked on a building campaign to enhance its already excellent facilities.

Position: Reporting directly to the Vice Provost of Enrollment Planning and Management, the Director/Dean of Admissions will collaborate with the Vice Provost in developing recruitment programs and in implementing them. The Director/Dean will have responsibility for the administrative oversight of the Office of Admissions and will work collaboratively with the campus community. The Director/Dean will also serve on the Enrollment Management Committee and will serve as the University's representative on the State Committee on Transfer.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of demonstrated and progressively responsible leadership with supervisory experience in admissions and a track record of building strong relationships with feeder high schools and community colleges;
  • Demonstrated ability to set and meet enrollment targets and goals;
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with a collegial style;
  • Familiarity with new market development, targeted marketing strategies, and financial aid modeling and leveraging;
  • Facility in using student information systems (experience with Banner is preferred);
  • A broad awareness of state and national issues in recruitment, enrollment, and retention; knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations a plus;
  • The ability to work collaboratively and execute the recruitment and enrollment vision;
  • A master's degree in an appropriate field is preferred.
